AUCTION ENDED
Ruben Hovhannisyan, Ruins in Artsakh, 2021
About the Artist and the Artwork
Ruben Oganesyan was born in 1995 in Moscow. Graduated from the Art School and Faculty of Arts of The Russian State University of Cinematography (VGIK).

In his art, Ruben often depicts Armenian landscapes both in graphics and in painting. Each of his works is brutal and tender at the same time and emphasizes the artist's reverent attitude to his native nature and culture. Ruben's paintings are very honest, lively, and real, without embellishment and excessive drama, fixing real stories and objects.

The presented work depicts the ancient Artsakh temple, which is in ruins. The effect of involvement created by the composition of the picture allows the viewer to feel himself inside the temple, standing under the arch and observing the silence of the past. Seeing the ruins of a historical monument is like realizing the destruction of memory. But the sadness in the soul of the beholder recedes under the sunbeam of hope passing through the broken wall of the history of civilization.

Ruben is a frequent participant in exhibitions and holder of international awards and diplomas.
