About the Artist and the Artwork
Lilit Khalatyan was born in 1978 in Armenia. Lilit is an amateur artist who started her career as an adult. Her paintings are filled with special energy and inspiration.
The painting presented at the auction depicts the talented and incomparable mime Hovhannes Hajinyan, widely known in Armenia. This portrait is the author's version of the famous photograph of Hovhannes in stage form. "Conscious death is immortality" (Yegishe) – Lilit herself accompanied this work with such an epigraph. The fact is that at the age of 39, Hovhannes joined the heavenly army of immortal warriors - he died in Karabakh in the fall of 2020, repelling an attack by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. It is believed that a mime is allowed more as in a mime mask a person acquires more freedom - Hovhannes tried to give the freedom to others.
