About the Artist and the Artwork
Yuri Grigoryan was born in 1977 in Moscow. He received his primary education at the Moscow Art Lyceum at the Academy of Arts, then graduated from the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after Surikov. He was awarded the medal of the Russian Academy of Arts for the best thesis work dedicated to Nagorno-Karabakh, the homeland of his father, Yuri Grigoryan Sr., who is Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Movement, reflection, and flickering are the vectors of creativity of Yuri Grigoryan Jr. The main content of his artistic searches is the play with light and shadow. Light and shadow are the most important objects of the image, they are both the plot of his works and a genre that can be attributed to figurative realism, a direction in the art that retains an exact resemblance to real objects.

Member of the Union of Artists of Russia. The artist's paintings are in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Moscow, in the State Museum of Oriental Art, as well as in private collections in Russia, Italy, Croatia, England, Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, Korea, and China.
