About the Artist and the Artwork
Anahit Brutyan, better known under the pseudonym ArttianA, was born in Moscow in 1962 in the artists’ family. At the age of 11, the first sketches appeared, and then the first award – 12-year-old Anait became the bronze medalist of the International Exhibition "I See the Sun" at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. After 2 years she graduated from art school and for many subsequent years, she tried herself in various styles and directions, until painting finally became a professional activity. Her development as an artist was strongly influenced by the works of the neoclassical and avant-garde artists of the 20th century, in particular the work of Nikolai Feshin and the Armenian painter Minas Avetisyan.

Anahit's works stand out for their vivid interpretation of the real world and elements of hyperbolization. Habitual and familiar images under her brush form an amazing symbiosis of a colorful palette. The main line in Anahit's work is the integration of the real world into the world of illusions, due to which seemingly disparate plots and colors often collide. The familiar landscape performed by Anahit is transformed into a cosmic landscape – this is how the author expresses confidence in his viewer, sincerely revealing her many-sided inner world on canvas.

The work "Estoril" was written under the impression of the sight of the Portuguese city of the same name on a bright October day. The first mention of the Portuguese freguesia Estoril occurs about two thousand years ago. For a long time, Estoril was a fishing village, but since the 20th century it has become a center of tourism and looking at photos of freguesia, you can understand why. Estoril is the epitome of a quiet and peaceful place, Hemmingway dreamed of such lands in the story "A Clean, Well-Lighted Place".

Anahit's heart was captivated by the deserted autumn beaches, the boundless power of the ocean, and the gentle sound of the wind. It's amazing how accurately Anahit managed to convey the peace of mind of the town with paints. Sky, water and indigo clouds, sunbeams that illuminate the walls of houses, ships with scarlet sails, carried away far beyond the horizon until only a faded silhouette remains of them.

In 2017, having taken part in a number of exhibitions, Anahit Brutyan became a member of the Union of Artists of Armenia. Today her paintings are in private collections of German, Dutch, and Armenian collectors.
