AUCTION ENDED
David Baghdasaryan, The way home, 2020
About the Artist and the Artwork
David Baghdasaryan was born in 1989 in Yerevan. Graduated with honors from the Faculty of Design of the Moscow Open Social Academy, studied fine arts in the studio of Mark Ibshman. David is the director of the Tapan Armenian Museum in Moscow, as well as the chief artist of the Armenian Gavit Theater and the independent creative association A-theatre.

The graphics that capture the living image of Armenia and Artsakh are participating in the current auction - "The Way Home". The artist himself accompanies the picture with a quote from the German writer Novalis from the novel “Heinrich von Ofterdingen”: "If your eye is fixed upon Heaven, you will never lose the way to your home". Despite the absence of bright colors, the work is very dynamic, each hero of the picture captures the viewer's attention with his contrasting figure and creates a sense of movement and life, including due to the linocut technique itself. It is no coincidence that linocut was loved by artists whose creative temperament is prone to expression, drama, and conciseness. To date, the technique of engraving on linoleum is considered undeservedly forgotten and is extremely rare in the works of contemporary artists.

Bagdasaryan is a regular participant in group and solo exhibitions in Russia and abroad, charity events, and masterclasses. In October 2021, David's work Bathing the Golden Calf took part in one of the largest international exhibitions Artexpo New York. The artist's works are in the collections of museums and private collections. Member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, the International Art Fund, and the International Council of Museums.
