AUCTION ENDED
Galina Bystritskaya SOLD, Autumn in the provinces, 2022
About the Artist and the Artwork
Galina Bystritskaya was born in Moscow in 1961. She graduated from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute (Department of Graphics); she has been a member of the Moscow Union of Artists since 1992. Since 1982 she has participated in personal and group exhibitions in Russia and abroad. “The Golden Brush” winner (1992). In 2007 her project Artography was exhibited at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in the exhibition hall "Noviy Manezh" (Moscow).

A renowned artist, Galina has long ago developed her own original and recognizable style. It is characterized by expressive and at the same time undoubtedly tangible manner of painting exactly sculpted with texture masses of a colorful layer. Such tactile perception is reached by skillful fingerwork, with only the occasional use of palette knife. Bystritskaya describes her creative approach in the following way: "The search for the means of the faultless accuracy of the judgment is the goal that makes one try. Attempting to conservatively hold at the moment of perception the knowledge of Aristotle’s unity of place, time and action, you wish to find the exact graphic language which will prove to be deeper, more structural, and more modern".

"Autumn in the Province" is one of the most significant works of the current auction. A rural road, a colorful forest, a white church in the distance reflect the subtle interaction with the energy of rural places, which repeatedly inspired Bystritskaya to create bright, full of life, colorful canvases imbued with love for the Motherland.

The works of the artist are kept in the collections of the Vologda Picture Gallery, Bryansk Artistic Museum, in the Museum New Jerusalem as well as in private collections in Russia, USA, Germany, England, Austria, France, Yugoslavia, Turkey, China, Israel, Canada, and Japan.
