Liana Tamazyan	SOLD, Artsakh in our hearts, 2018
About the Artist and the Artwork
Liana Tamazyan was born in 1980 in Armenia. She received professional art education at the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after Surikov.

A childhood spent among the majestic mountains of Armenia and its picturesque landscapes left a big imprint on the formation of Liana's artistic vision. It was then that Liana began to look at the world, noticing its colors and forms. Ancient castles and fortresses, monasteries and ruins, Saryan's colors at sunset and in the heat, the Roerich mountain ranges – all this formed the artistic world of Liana.

The presented canvas "Artsakh in our hearts" depicts the famous monument of 1967 "We and our mountains" or, as it is commonly called by the people, Tatik-Papik (grandfather and grandmother). A statue of a married couple in national costumes is located in Artsakh, at the entrance to Stepanakert from the north side. According to the idea of the author, the sculptor Sargis Baghdasaryan, the statue does not have a pedestal, which creates the feeling of figures grown into the mountains and symbolizes the connection with the roots deeply rooted in their native land.
